But why is #MooiGrunnen a success?

Suddenly our Twitter timelines are fill with beautiful photos: mieval churches, vast landscapes  reasonably plan the development cycle and cityscapes of Groningen. And all provid with the hashtag #MooiGrunnen. Where does such a hashtag come from?

How does a hashtag come into being?

Sometimes hashtags arise spontaneously. An inspiration from a tweeter who provides a witty  what is twitch and how to use it tweet with an appealing hashtag. Often hashtags are also carefully chosen. For example, by the organization of an event or by the makers of a television or radio program.

But why is #MooiGrunnen

The hashtag #MooiGrunnen was originally start by the provincial factions of GroenLinks and D66 in  marketing list  Groningen. They were inspir by beautiful photos they saw on Twitter. It is election time, and so the campaign teams are in full force. Then a concept is quickly work out and a good hashtag is quickly chosen.

Then the first photos are post by a number of Twitter users. Then it is a matter of waiting to see if the hashtag ‘catches’. And it did. In the meantime, hundrs of beautiful photos have been post. And when even the Groningen icon Ranomi Kromowidjojo joins in , the success is complete.

The province of Groningen has been hot in recent weeks. Earthquakes, gas extraction and employment in the province are frequently in the news. And that news is usually not particularly positive. That is a thorn in the side of many Groningers. Living in such a beautiful part of the Netherlands, and still having a negative image.
